Garratts achieve settlement of £750,000.00 for victim of Clinical Negligence

Unfortunately, notwithstanding this, the hospital negligently delayed the treatment of the life-threatening condition for several days and consequently Mrs P did not undergo operative treatment until 4 days after her admission. Following surgery, Mrs P was rushed to the High Dependency Unit where she was placed on life support. The hospital's negligence had catastrophic consequences for Mrs P in that she had to have both of her hip prostheses removed due to the fact that the infection had spread throughout her body. As a result she underwent a bilateral Girdlestone procedure and in addition,  amputation and debridement of several toes.

Mrs P did fortunately slowly begin to recover but has suffered a life-changing experience.

She was discharged from hospital 3 months after her admission where she required round the clock care from her family members. She was also forced to move from her family home in to warden controlled sheltered accommodation and had to give up her role as a care home manager. Mrs P still requires significant care and support and will do so for the remainder of her life.

Mrs P was awarded £750,000.00 in compensation as a result of the Trust's negligence.
