New Arrangements for Children on separation

New Arrangements for Children on separation

From April 22nd new arrangements will be in force dealing with Arrangements for children on separation, a single Family Court and amended procedures in Public Law care cases.

There is some misconception that these new arrangements will announce the start of the idea of the time children spend with parents being equalised, which isn't correct, but the new arrangements introduces the replacement of the 'residence order' and the 'contact order" as set out in section 8 of the Children Act 1989 by a new form of order – a child arrangements order – which can deal with the arrangements concerning who a child should live with, who the child should spend time with and who the child should have other types of contact with.

There will be more details from the Government after 3rd March and an update will be posted then.
