Christmas is seen by many as the time of joy and laughter however not everyone enjoys this time of year. Deborah Cartledge, Partner and Head of the Mental Health team at Garratts Solicitors explains more.
“Christmas can be lonely at this time of year particularly if people have suffered the loss of a loved one, had a relationship breakdown or even suffering financial hardship”. Whilst loneliness does not necessarily lead to mental health issues it can be a contributing factor. Deborah adds “we all need to be more open with how we feel particularly at this time of year, but also to check on those who may be feeling lonely and a little less upbeat this festive period”.
