Damages awarded for a failure to remove sutures

Damages awarded for a failure to remove sutures

Miss B underwent a knee replacement operation where non-dissolvable sutures were used. Miss B, however, believed the sutures were dissolvable. The sutures should have been removed after 10 days, however, no contact was made with the Claimant resulting in the sutures not being removed until some four months later. The Claimant suffered extensive pain and suffering during this time and developed Cellulitis.

The Defendant Trust accepted that a referral was received to remove the sutures, however, no contact was made with the Claimant.

Garratts were successful in obtaining £5,500.00 in compensation on behalf of Miss B.
