Congratulations to Jill Latimer who is celebrating 20 years with Garratts!
When Jill joined the firm she had already been doing Crown Court work for over 10 years and had already started a law degree. She was studying at home with the Open University. Garratts supported Jill through her Training Contract and Legal Practice Course providing an opportunity for her to experience different types of work in other departments.
By this time Jill felt that a career in criminal advocacy was not her natural path. In 2005 Angela Smith had joined the firm and had developed the Private Client department. Jill found that she enjoyed this type of work and found it most rewarding.
Jill therefore began to retrain in this area alongside the LPC and qualified as a solicitor in 2008 working in the Private Client department. This change in work also coincided with Jill’s parents becoming ill and gave her a personal insight into how Private Client issues can work in practical terms for families and elderly clients which was helpful to both Jill and her family.
With the support of Garratts Jill has become a fully accredited member of Solicitors For the Elderly, a National group which requires formal assessments to join, rather than just a fee paying group.
Jill was made an Associate Solicitor in 2015 and has subsequently been instrumental in organising social and charity events for the firm.
