Sarah Houghton celebrates 8 years with Garratts this week!

Sarah joined the firm in January 2014 as a Paralegal in the Clinical Negligence and General Litigation Departments. There wasn’t actually a vacancy available but Sarah had sent out letters to lots of local firms having recently completed her Legal Practice Course – the course required if you want to become a Solicitor. Garratts (then Quality Solicitors Gruber Garratt) took pity on Sarah and what an excellent decision that was!

Sarah was very quickly (within a matter of months) offered a Training Contract with the firm. Training Contracts are required to qualify as a Solicitor and really are like gold dust. Sarah was very grateful for this opportunity which had happened much quicker than she had anticipated and in June 2016 Sarah qualified as a Solicitor.

Sarah has continued to work in both the Clinical Negligence and General Litigation departments although her work is now predominantly Clinical Negligence. Sarah has managed to secure compensation for many vulnerable clients who have been the victim of medical negligence.

Sarah has continued to progress within the firm and in July 2020 she was offered Partnership by the firm. Sarah was delighted by the invitation and accepted with no hesitation.

Sarah has now been with the firm for 8 years and says ‘I can’t believe how fast that has gone, it feels like yesterday that I started. I really have grown up with the firm and that is really special to me.’

Sarah says that the thing she loves the most about Garratts is the people, she says ‘we are one big extended family and I really love that about the firm.’

Congratulations to Sarah on her 8 year anniversary – may there be many more to come!!
