Mrs M pursued a claim on behalf of her Deceased husband, Mr M when he suffered a total of ten falls in a two week timeframe. Each fall resulted in Mr M enduring pain and suffering both physical and psychological. The final fall that Mr M suffered was significant and led to a serious head injury which left him hospitalised. Whilst he was in hospital his condition deteriorated and he sadly passed away.
Although expert medical evidence was not able to demonstrate that the death was caused by the fall, it was found that all of the ten falls were entirely avoidable.
Mr M therefore suffered unnecessarily prior to his death. Mrs M recovered £7,500 in compensation on behalf of the Estate in respect of the falls.
A care/nursing home resident is entitled to expect care and safety from those looking after them and sadly this is far too often not the case. If you believe that you may have a claim for care/nursing home neglect, contact our specialist team on 0161 665 3502.
