Hospital Negligence – Compensation Success

Hospital Negligence – Compensation Success

Mrs T brought a claim on behalf of her Deceased Husband, Mr T against the Defendant Trust as a result of the development of hunger, thirst, discomfort, oral thrush and anorexia whilst he was being treated in hospital.

The Defendant Trust's Negligence

Mr T was admitted to the Defendant Trust following a deterioration in his mental capacity as a result of vascular dementia. During his time as an inpatient Mr T suffered poor nutritional and fluid intake, significant weight loss, anorexia and the alleged development of oral thrush. Garratts Solicitors obtained supportive expert evidence, from a leading Geriatrician, on behalf of Mrs T which identified that the breaches of duty resulted in Mr T sustaining pain, injury and loss of amenity with a reduction in his life expectancy of between 2 and 6 weeks.
