The Incident
A Wren Kitchen Surveyor who attended a property to carry out measurements ahead of a kitchen fitting, suffered serious injury when he stepped inside the hallway through the front door, and as he did so he stepped onto an access hatch built into floorboards which was unsecured.
Injuries and Impact
The access hatch flipped upwards and forcibly struck the Claimant in the genitals. The Claimant sustained a physical injury which required surgical repair. The Claimant also suffered psychological symptoms, time off work and significant loss of earnings.
Legal Outcome
The occupiers of the property fought the case vigorously and the case proceeded to Trial where the Claimant was successful in his claim.
