Delayed Diagnosis of Subdural Haematoma

Delayed Diagnosis of Subdural Haematoma

Mr E experienced a prolonged period of pain and suffering due to severe headaches caused by a subdural haematoma. The negligent actions of his GP resulted in a delay in diagnosis and treatment of the subdural haematoma.

Mr E contacted his GP practice on 5 occasions over a 4 month period due to a worsening of his condition and pain caused by his severe headaches. Garratts was able to obtain evidence that the GP should have considered Mr E’s medical history and arranged for further investigation of his symptoms. This would have led to an earlier diagnosis and relief of his symptoms sooner.

Mr E eventually attended hospital and was treated in the form of burr hole surgery which released the build up of blood between his skull and brain. Thankfully Mr E made a good recovery. However he did suffer unnecessary pain and headaches for a 5 week period.

Mr E received £4,000.00 for the pain and suffering experienced during this period.
