The Claimant suffered from a range of learning and physical difficulties and was a protected party. The Claimant through his father applied to be admitted as a member of the Defendant's gym and paid a monthly fee for doing so. Following his induction the well-known national gym appointing a Personal Trainer who at all times would assist the Claimant when attending the gym. The Claimant was an especially vulnerable person dependent on the Defendant's protection against a risk of injury when using the gym.

Garratts acted on behalf of a GP, Dr K, in relation to monies due to him from his Partner following the dissolution of their Partnership. After full details were obtained and documentation sourced approaches were made to his ex-Partner (subsequently the Defendant) to obtain the monies due.

I (a minor) was born by caesarean section at his local hospital alongside his twin brother who was delivered shortly before him. During the delivery process, I sustained three cuts to his back, two of which were relatively superficial and a third which was much deeper and more prominent.

A 13 year old boy was riding his bicycle in a residential area. As he was crossing the road, the Defendant drove at speed along the road and knocked him to the ground. After reprimanding the child (as he lay injured on the floor), the driver fled the scene but later visited the family offering money to keep matters from progressing to police and insurers. The family contacted Garratts Personal Injury team for help.

On the 1st February 2018, the Office of the Public Guardian launched a scheme to allow partial refunds to be made in respect of registration fees for Lasting Powers of Attorney.
