Garratts were successful in obtaining compensation for Miss C as a result of a delay in the diagnosis of breast cancer. Miss C had previously undergone gender reassignment surgery. Miss C began noticing pain in her breast and so she visited her GP. She was only provided cream to use which did not assist. Miss C returned to the GP as the pain had significantly increased and a small lump was also present. Miss C was advised her implant had likely ruptured. A referral letter was sent to the hospital, however, the referral was marked as routine and there was no mention of the lump.

One of the most complicated issues to be dealt with on divorce is how pensions should be distributed between parties and how pension sharing is balanced with division of other assets such as property.  The various types of pensions that individuals hold can also add to that complexity such as Defined benefit (one where the amount you're paid is based on how many years you've worked for your employer and the salary you've earned) or defined contribution (.occupational pension schemes where your own contributions and your employer's contributions are both invested and the proceeds used to buy a pension and/or other benefits at retirement).

The Coronavirus Pandemic has brought the criminal justice system to its knees with trials in the Crown Courts being re-listed as far into the future as autumn 2021. Facing a criminal investigation or prosecution can be an emotionally and mentally debilitating time not just for the defendant but also for their families. For those who should have been facing trials during 2020, their anxiety will continue for months to come as a result of slow process and court backlogs in courts of all denominations across the UK. Not only are those on bail living with restrictions for much longer periods than anticipated, but defendants remanded into custody are also having their custody time limits extended as a result of the delays.

There is no doubt the NHS are facing a great challenge and we recognise the amazing work that they do. This should not mean those who have been the victim of clinical negligence should not be compensated.
