Andrew has been a solicitor practising in Oldham since 1990 and specialises in Family and Mental Health Law.
As an accredited member of Resolution, Andrew is committed to ensuring the best advice for individual clients in family cases at a time when they most need independent and strong advice. He has the ability to remain objective while ensuring that the long-term interests of the family are met. Andrew is also a member of the Law Society Family Panel.
As a member of The Law Society's Children Panel, Andrew regularly represents parents in proceedings concerning their children brought by local authorities. He is committed in these cases to speaking on behalf of parents in court and representing their interests.
Andrew has been a member of The Law Society's Mental Health Panel since 1994 and regularly represents patients before Mental Health Tribunals and Hospital Managers hearings. Along with his colleagues at Garratts, he believes they are a strong team who give a voice to vulnerable people at difficult times in their lives.
As part of his Mental Health practice, Andrew has also represented families in hearings before the Court of Protection concerning their relatives' best interests. This is a complex area of work and his priority is the strong representation of his client at a difficult time. He will also explore with any patient, family member or individual any legal issues that arise as a result of their mental health.
As part of Garratts' Family and Mental Health team, Andrew provides services for clients when they are at their most vulnerable and in need of support.
